This week we held a fund raising event at The Old Barn in Glasgow on behalf of Lynn Jolly who is aiming to raise £200,000 to start the Lotus Animal Sanctuary. Lynn’s vision took another step towards becoming a reality as this week, lots of people from all over Scotland came together and contributed £1439.99 towards this fantastic vision and cause.

During the day we had a number of activities which people could come along and take part in which included plant based cooking classes and yoga and well being classes. Jayne Totty from Super Nourished hosted a number of cooking classes while Anne Millard, Susan Ross, Suzy Berry, Gillian Collins and Carlo Ferroni each hosted their own yoga / well being sessions. Each of these teachers donated their time and energy for no charge, for this, we wanted to say a huge THANK YOU :-).

Businesses supporting the event on the day included Face Plant Foods and Alan Urqhuart aka The Intrepid Vegan (a new Vegan business in Scotland) – who both provided delicious plant based meals for everyone while Thomas and Roberta from Seeds for the Soul brought a selection of hand made vegan cakes. Dionne Strachan from Tini Designs provided some amazing face painting while Ester Stevenson hosted an information stall on Galloway Holistic Retreats. Elizabeth Drake was selling hand made jewellery and talking about the range of healing therapies she provides. Rebecca Crawford was selling hand painted cards of her own design while Lynn Duthie from Everything Chilli was selling a selection of hand made preserves.

We want to say a special thank you to all of these teachers, makers and artists on the day who came together in the spirit of giving to something that is bigger than each of us. Thanks to all their support and the support of all the people who attended on the day, or who bought tickets to support the event or who participated in the raffle that was held, we together managed to raise the fantastic sum of £1439.99 to help bring Lynn Jolly’s vision of an animal sanctuary in central Scotland one step closer. We want to say a special thank you to Lesley-Ann Scott, helped by her husband Neil who drew and announced the raffle winners.

It is not often that we are given the opportunity to come together and work in a way that benefits something that is bigger than just ourselves. The fund raising day at The Old Barn on behalf of Lynn Jolly and The Lotus Animal sanctuary offered a chance to participate. Here at The Tartan Carrot we would like to take this opportunity to thank each of the Scottish business and organisations who supported the day, we want to say thank you to the volunteers who helped and also to everyone who contributed financially or by sharing, liking and socialising the event prior to the day.

Lynn Jolly has been in touch, we can say that she is delighted with the figure raised and she expressed her heart felt thanks to everyone who was involved.
