Spring is a great time of the year; it is always to exciting to see new plants growing again after our long winters here. Spring is the perfect time to find Wild Garlic. Broad leaf Garlic with it’s distinctive broad green smooth leaves are perfect for making Wild Garlic Soup. The plant is known to be anti-bacterial, anti-septic and can reduce the bad cholesterol in our bodies.

This recipe is for Wild Garlic and Wild Nettle Soup. Both Wild Garlic and Wild Nettle are full of Vitamin C and are perfect for making a pleasantly aromatic tonic soup. Give this a try, it can be great fun getting outside on a fine spring morning looking for these wonderful aromatic plants. Remember, you don’t need to pull either of these plants up by the roots; with the Wild Garlic … just break off the leaves without disturbing the roots, and with the nettles … just pick the top 1-2 inches of the plant (this way you get the freshest leaves without disturbing the plant).

Remember, avoid picking plants for food next to roadsides which are used by cars. Enjoy !
